Allied Health Care Professionals help people live healthier lives by providing care in various medical fields.
Allied Health Care professionals include nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers, nutritionists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and many others.

An allied health care professional helps patients with their health needs through diagnosis, treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and education. These professionals work in hospitals, clinics, schools, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides individualised funding for its members for the use of Allied Health Services where relevant to your individual needs. These services are provided to help you live your life and can assist you to reach goals through specialised techniques.
What Allied Health Services are available and what do they do?
Depending on the goals you have for yourself or your family member, Angelic Care work with you to set up a team of dedicated therapists that are made up from a wide range of allied health professionals to help you reach your goals – and we’ve detailed below what each of these allied health services provide:
Occupational therapists (OTs)
Occupational Therapists are in high demand. They assess and then intervene to develop, maintain or recover meaningful activities, or occupations of individuals or communities. An example would be assessing the need for a new house ramp and organising installation.
Therapy Assistants
Occupational therapy assistants help patients with their therapeutic activities, like stretches and other exercises. They help lead children with developmental disabilities via play activities to promote socialisation and coordination.
Physiotherapists
Physiotherapy is the practice of using movement & exercise, manual therapy, education and advice to help maintain and improve health, manage pain and prevent disease. Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability.
Speech pathologists
This Allied Health profession specialises in helping with language, speech and literacy difficulties. They also can help with swallowing or feeding problems and they generally work with children. If your child has difficulty in communicating, a speech pathologist can help children to develop this ability.
Social workers
Social workers work to improve individuals lives by assisting with interpersonal difficulties, social issues and promoting human rights and wellbeing. They work to protect children and adults in their support needs to protect them from harm.
Psychologists
Helping people to learn coping mechanisms to deal with stressful situations, manage chronic illness and overcome addictions is what psychologists do. They do this by using tests and assessments that can help to diagnose a condition or to recognise more about how a person feels, thinks or behaves in certain scenarios.
Deafblind Consultants
Deafblind Consultants work with individuals and families to ensure access to accurate, timely and accessible information, services and supports that best meet their individual needs in order for individuals to lead fulfilling lives.
Orientation & mobility specialists
These Allied Health practitioners work with individuals who have low vision, blindness, disabilities or conditions that have related visual problems such as diabetes, cerebral palsy, brain injury or stroke. They teach people how to uses all of their senses (sound, smell, touch and feeling) to notice what is going on around them and how to move around safely to find what they are looking for.
Orthoptists
This Allied Health profession is trained in the assessment, diagnoses and treatment/rehabilitation of individuals that suffer from eye disorders. They specialise in eye movement disorders, low vision care, children’s vision and rehabilitation.
Dietitians
As you would assume, Dietitians help with food. They are experts in food and nutrition and provide guidance on appropriately managing nutrition and diet for individuals suffering from conditions including obesity, diabetes, cancer, renal disease, heart disease, gastro-intestinal diseases and food allergies.
